Play Specs Engineered for Pure Roll + Aesthetic Built for Confidence
If you’ve never played a true players-spec L-neck, you don’t know what your putting stroke is actually capable of.
This one was designed with performance in mind - and the style followed naturally.
This custom build takes a retail Scotty Cameron Phantom 5 and elevates it into a true players-spec machine: tuned for the arc, balanced for control, and shaped for pure feedback.
Why Players Specs Matter
A putter isn’t just metal - it’s geometry, physics, and biomechanics.
This build was dialed to:
71° Lie Angle
4° Loft
32.5° Toe Hang
½-shaft Offset
These numbers aren’t random. They define how the putter wants to behave in motion.
Toe Hang Matters
A putter should flow with your natural arc - not fight it.
If you stand slightly farther from the ball or have a natural in-to-square-to-in stroke, you need a bit of toe hang so the putter closes naturally through impact.
This build hangs open at 32.5°, which is ideal for:
Moderate arc strokes
Players whose eyes sit slightly inside the ball
Anyone who wants natural toe release without manipulation
When the balance matches your body mechanics, everything feels effortless. You’re no longer forcing the putter to square - you’re letting physics do the work.
Why L-Neck Swaps are Game-Changing
The L-neck is the most effective way to tune:
Face rotation
Offset
Toe hang
Balance
Shaft insertion geometry
Most retail necks are built for the average golfer.
We build the neck around your setup.
This L-neck swap creates:
A more responsive toe closure
A cleaner visual line from shaft → top line → ball
A more connected feel between your hands and the face
Better speed control due to improved energy transfer
If you’ve never played a true players-spec L-neck, you don’t know what your putting stroke is actually capable of.
Pure Face Modification
The milling was completely removed - creating a Pure Face.
Why players love it:
Maximum feedback (you feel everything instantly)
Higher energy transfer (slightly hotter, more efficient roll)
Less dampening (since there are no grooves absorbing impact)
True ball contact (more linear roll, less skid)
A Pure Face demands more intentional putting, but rewards you with unmatched control. It’s the closest thing to having your hands directly on the golf ball.
Mindful putting matters - remove the debris, clear the surface, and you’re left with the cleanest feedback possible.
Alignment Built for Precision
This build features a dual flange-line extension paired with the stock top-line alignment.
Why this matters:
Frames the ball more effectively
Helps prevent toe-up setup tendencies
Creates a visual “lane” that reduces aim bias
Enhances consistency on short and mid-range putts
Dual flange lines offer a larger, more stable visual base - ideal for players who want structure without distraction.
The Planetary Dot Aesthetic
Instead of restoring the standard Scotty Cameron face stamp, Rush rebuilt the iconic Tour Type Planetary Dot aesthetic:
Square-edged
Cleanly machined
Filled in deep candy-red
Matched across cavity dots + sole weights
This small detail completely elevates the putter - turning a retail build into a collector-level piece.
Anti-Glare Tour Finish + Rebuilt Sole Plate
The putter received a full Anti-Glare Tour Finish, reducing reflectivity and giving a bright, tour-grade satin texture.
The sole plate, originally damaged with deep gouging, was completely resurfaced:
Gouges removed
Softened by hand
Refinished in matching Tour Finish
Sealed with matte acrylic for protection
This produces a cleaner than factory aesthetic - and increases long-term durability.
Why Players Choose This Build
This isn’t just a refinish. It’s a re-engineered putter designed to:
✅ Match your natural arc
✅ Help the toe lead and close through impact
✅ Give you more energy transfer and feedback
✅ Improve alignment without distraction
✅ Build confidence with a refined, elevated aesthetic
This is what separates a modded putter from a spec-built tool.
This is the definition of a Players Mod.
