Customer FAQs

Do you build putters from scratch?

No. We are a custom aftermarket shop, not a ground-up manufacturer. We work with existing putters — either provided by you or sourced through us — and transform them through refinishing, stamping, paint fills, weight adjustments, and other performance or aesthetic upgrades.

What metals can you customize?

We work with carbon steel and stainless steel putters.

  • Carbon steel requires a protective finish (oxide or nickel plating) to prevent rust.

  • Stainless steel is naturally corrosion-resistant and offers more flexibility in finish styles.
We do not work with aluminum putters or those with permanent face inserts made from other materials.

What finishes do you offer?

We offer oxide finishes, nickel plating, and specialty torching depending on the metal type. Each metal reacts differently, so finish options vary between carbon and stainless. (See our [Metal Finishes Guide] for full details.)

Should I get fitted before customizing?

Yes — and we highly recommend it. Your putter is an extension of your game. Proper fit ensures your eyes are positioned over the ball, your stroke path is consistent, and your impact is square — all of which directly help you sink more putts.

Does pricing change based on putter condition?
Yes. All prices listed are starting at rates. Final pricing will depend on the condition of your putter and the scope of work required.

Can I send in my entire putter, shaft and all?
No. We only work on the putter head and do not offer full rebuilds. Please remove the shaft and grip before shipping.

Can I just ship in my own putter?
Yes. While we typically provide pre-paid shipping labels for convenience, you may choose to send your own putter directly to us. If you do, you are responsible for shipping costs and insurance. We recommend insuring for the full replacement value, and any work paid to RUSH KANE must also be insured in full on the return label.

Can I pay a rush fee to get it done sooner?
Possibly. Rush requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Please email us with your timeline and we’ll let you know what’s possible along with any additional costs.

Does the work include dings and scratch cleanup?
Not by default. Minor surface scratches may disappear during tour blasting or finishing, but unless ding and scratch removal is specifically requested and paid for, it will not be a focus of the work.

How long does a custom build usually take?
Turnaround times vary based on workload and complexity of the build, but most projects take 4–8 weeks. Specialty finishes, plating, and custom milling may extend this timeframe.

Will my finish wear over time?
All finishes will show wear with regular use. Carbon steel requires an oxide or plating for protection, while stainless steel can be left raw or finished. For longevity, wipe your putter after each round and store it in a dry place.

Can I see progress updates during the build?
Absolutely. We can send photo or video updates upon request so you can watch your putter’s transformation.

What’s your warranty or guarantee?

We stand behind our craftsmanship. Our finishes are designed for durability, but normal play will eventually create wear. We do not cover wear, damage from misuse or neglect, but refinishing services are always available should you want to refresh your putter in the future.

Will you stamp other brand’s logos or lettering?
No — we do not infringe on the copyright of other brands and we are not a custom stamp shop. We only provide lettering stamps. If you want custom stamp designs, we can refer you to a trusted shop.
